Practice
Areas
Hubert X. Gilroy has practiced law in Carlisle for more than 27 years. His
varied practice focuses on land use, personal injury, commercial litigation,
criminal law and domestic law. He is a Certified Mediator for the Federal Middle
District
Court, serves as Custody Conciliator for Cumberland County and is
routinely retained as a mediator by counsel in central Pennsylvania.
Professional Activities
Mr. Gilroy is an elected alumni member of the Board of Governors of the Dickinson
School of Law and an appointed member of the Dickinson Law Association. He
is the first-ever recipient (2009) of the Cumberland County Bar Association’s “Stuart
Award,” presented in recognition of Mr. Gilroy’s outstanding dedication
and devotion to the Cumberland County region and community. In 2006, Mr. Gilroy
received the Molly Pitcher Award and was recognized as Citizen of the Year
for the Carlisle area by the Carlisle Exchange Club. He is a former Board member
and President of the Carlisle Family YMCA, a former member of the Cumberland
County DUI Advisory Board, and was the 2002 recipient of the Norman Cohn Hope
Award from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Central Pennsylvania Chapter.
He is a member
of the Pennsylvania and Cumberland County Bar Associations,
and the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association. He is admitted
to practice to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, United States
District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, United
States Supreme Court, United States Tax Court, and the United
States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Education
Mr. Gilroy is a cum laude graduate of the University of Scranton, where he
earned a B.S. in Sociology in 1976. He earned a J.D. from the Dickinson
School of Law in 1979. |
