Practice Areas
John B. Fowler III, joined the firm on January 1, 1998, following his retirement
from his former law firm where he was the senior and managing partner for
a number of years. He focuses his practice on estate planning and probate
law, business law, municipal law and real estate law. For more than forty
years, he has successfully advised one of Cumberland County’s largest
municipal authorities in major expansion and improvement projects and environmental
matters.
Professional Activities
Mr. Fowler is a member and a past President of the Cumberland
County Bar Association and is a member of the Pennsylvania
Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Mr. Fowler
has served as Solicitor for the Carlisle Borough Sewer System
Authority since 1962. He is also the Chairman of the Cumberland
County Orphans’ Court Rules Committee since 1989.
Mr. Fowler has devoted many hours to civic and charitable causes.
He is a former Director and Chairman of the Cumberland County
Chapter of the American Red Cross, and a former member and
Vice Chairman of the Carlisle Advisory Committee for the Institute
of Pastoral Care, Inc. He is also a former corporate member
of Pennsylvania Blue Shield and Chairman of its Constitution
and By-Laws Committee. Mr. Fowler is a former founding member
and Chairman of the Carlisle Area Drug Committee. From 2002
to 2006, he served as Secretary and a member of the Board of
Directors of Somerset Education Foundation, Locust Grove, Orange
County, Virginia.
Education
Mr. Fowler graduated from Wesleyan University with a B.A. degree in Economics
in 1959, and received his law degree from The Dickinson School of Law in
1962.
