The Role of Parenting Coordination In Child Custody Cases

The new parenting coordination rule took effect on March 1, 2019.  The new program is designed to help parents resolve child custody disputes without the need for court intervention. Parents should take time to understand what this may mean for them.

How Parenting Coordination Works

In the event of a dispute over child custody, the parenting coordinator guides the parents toward an agreement. If an agreement between the parents cannot be reached, the parenting coordinator will make a recommendation to the court.

Use of a parenting coordinator is NOT appropriate in every case.

Parents in contentious child custody cases may first want to discuss their case with an attorney, before deciding whether a Parenting Coordinator is appropriate for their unique circumstances. Those who have already had a Parenting Coordinator appointed to their case can still seek advice from an attorney to ensure that their rights are protected.

At Martson Law Offices, we understand the new parenting coordination rule and can offer guidance to parents in child custody matters. You can access information about our custody attorneys by clicking on this link to our website. Attorneys Tom Williams, Hubert Gilroy, Seth Mosebey, Petra Gross, and Chris Nock would be pleased to meet with you to discuss your custody matter and how Martson Law Offices can enforce and protect your rights.
